In a low-scoring contest between the Windsor Royals and the Sandy Springs Spartans, 27-year old left-handed pitcher Dave Campbell proved to be the difference. The Windsor left-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-0 Royals win. Campbell picked up the win for Windsor, going 5 innings. He gave up no runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-2. Picking up the save was fireballing right-hander Larry Vincent.

Windsor right fielder John Whearty contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a cutter to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 21st hit of the season and put the Royals ahead, 2-0.

Afterward, Royals manager Luis Hernández was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."

The Royals bumped their record to 33-28 with this latest triumph.
