Black Bears Get Close Win Over Pipe Fitters, 6-5
Steve Venetz had a good game, but he could not keep the Niagara Falls Pipe Fitters from falling, 6-5, to the Fraser Valley Black Bears at The Stetson Bowl. The Niagara Falls designated hitter was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 in the loss. Fraser Valley reliever Jon Webb picked up the win, while Jason Griffith took the loss for Niagara Falls. Armando Gimenez recorded the save, his 19th.

Fraser Valley took a 6-5 lead on Matt Weld's 11th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Weld hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Niagara Falls pitcher Jason Griffith visibly frustrated.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Niagara Falls manager Bryant Thomas. "The effort was great."

The Black Bears, at 29-32, inhabit 4th place in the TML AA Bruce Bochy Division.
