Both offenses were relatively subdued at Basque Block Field. Fortunately for the Boise Hawks, though, Kyle Higgins was able to deliver in the clutch. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2, to lead his team past the Wichita Wolverines, 3-2. Boise reliever Mario Cruz picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Fernando Alvarado took the loss. The Hawks win now puts them at 13-44.

Higgins had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-2 fastball from Fernando Alvarado, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Hawks a 3-2 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Higgins.

"We hit some balls hard and didn't get rewarded for it," said Wichita manager John Bunce.
