Eclipse Tuck Away 7-3 Win Over El Paso
|
Chicago picked up a win at Millennium Field, bumping off the El Paso Mavericks, 7-3. Pitcher Alberto Calderon was a major reason the Eclipse emerged victorious. In 6.1 innings, Calderon surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 0. He allowed 3 runs. The win puts Chicago at 25-15 this season.
Jason Shannon had a big grand slam home run for the Eclipse in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a sinker from fan favorite Rick Booth and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Eclipse on top, 5-0.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Chicago manager Demetrio Recchia.
