Cornhuskers Deal Roaring River 6-4 Defeat
|
Though he had a stellar game, Chris Peoples could not prevent his team, the Roaring River Steelheads, from losing, 6-4, to the DeKalb Cornhuskers. Peoples was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. DeKalb reliever Jeff Oyster snagged the win, upping his record to 1-3. Steve Pisarek shouldered the loss. DeKalb, at 34-29, holds down third place in the TML AA Bruce Bochy Division.
The Cornhuskers got a big at-bat from shortstop Kenneth Turpin. For the game, Turpin went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave DeKalb a 2-1 lead.
DeKalb manager Trey Burrell commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
