Schortgen Helps Wolverines Win, 9-3, with Pair of Homers
Powered by Joe Schortgen, the Wichita Wolverines downed the Kelowna Rockets, 9-3. Schortgen slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 4 times and driving in 3 for the Wolverines. Alex Gonzalez, the winner, improved to 3-0. He held the Rockets to 3 runs on 5 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2. At 22-40, the Wolverines are currently 5th in the TML AA Jim Leyland Division.

Edward Suarez had a big 2-run double for the Wolverines in the top of the fourth inning. With Wichita leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Jeff Spotton and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wolverines ahead, 4-0.

"Not one of our better nights," said Kelowna skipper Antonio Moreno.
