Spartans Lose Versus Rock River, 5-1
|
Rock River turned a good effort from starter Rich Swayngim into a win over the Sandy Springs Spartans at The Rat Hole. The final score was 5-1. In 5.2 innings, Swayngim surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Lee Pearl recorded the save, his 2nd.
Chris Glowacki had a big run-scoring double for the Rats in the bottom of the third inning. With Rock River leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from Patrick Perillo, who is tied for 7th in the TAA in wins with 5, and swatted a double to left. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rats ahead, 2-0.
"I'm happy we won," said Swayngim. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
The Rats now have a record of 26-25 with the win over Sandy Springs.
