Bill Purcell pitched well, but the Louisiana Crocodiles still lost the game, falling, 3-1, to the Murraysville Peacocks at Red Bull Stadium. Steve Matkin, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 2-4. The Crocodiles had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Peacocks going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old third baseman Jeff Hughes came to the plate. Hughes hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch curveball from Louisiana hurler Bill Purcell. It was Hughes's 7th home run of the year.

"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Hughes.

The 5th-place Peacocks have won 5 straight.
