The Beaumont Drillers got a superb performance from pitcher Caspar Twomey, but the Wichita Wolverines still won the game, 6-4. Twomey threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The winner in relief was Jesus Chavez. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 1.1 innings. Nelson Soto wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.
Wichita took a 6-2 lead on Larry Allbaugh's 5th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Allbaugh hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Beaumont pitcher Luis Mojarro visibly frustrated.
Allbaugh called the win "a pick-me-upper."
The Drillers, at 23-36, have lost 4 straight games.
