Beaumont second baseman Joe Phelan had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Phelan was 4 for 6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4, even as Murraysville beat the Drillers, 10-7, in 12 innings. Randy McCafferty picked up the win in relief. Wayne Blanchard took the loss for Beaumont. Clyde Dempsey recorded the save, his 2nd.

Tommy Christian delivered a big hit for Murraysville. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Peacocks ahead, 8-7. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

In postgame comments, Christian said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.

The Peacocks, now 25-25, have won 4 in a row.
