The Wichita Wolverines went home winners at Howling Park, thanks in large part to starter Andy Duff. Duff stifled the Frisco Rams, enabling Wichita to grab the 4-1 win. The winner was Duff. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Steve Thomas. Orlando Sanchez picked up the save for Wichita, his 3rd of the year.

The Wolverines had to work out of trouble with one out in the top of the ninth. The score was 4-1, Wichita. But Frisco, with runners on 1st and 2nd, had mounted a threat. Nick Lambrecht dug in at the plate. But on a 0-2 changeup, Lambrecht struck out.

The 5th-place Wolverines improved to 20-36.
