Spartans Topple Chargers with Late Rally

A nice crowd turned out to see the Sandy Springs Spartans and Terra Linda Chargers clash at Albert Park.
The Sandy Springs Spartans got a strong performance from pitcher Alan Duker, who stymied the Terra Linda offense en route to a 5-1 win at Albert Park. Sandy Springs reliever Chris Helstrom picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Larry Sceviour absorbed the loss.
Sandy Springs used the timely hitting of Hector Garza to capture the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Spartans on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but he made it count.
"We'll savor this win," Garza told the Sandy Springs Gazette, "then get ready for the next game."
The 4th-place Spartans lifted their record to 27-25.
