The Cabo San Lucas Toreros withstood a fine game by Walnut Creek right fielder Travis Hudak at Castlerock Field, to upend the Warriors, 8-7. Hudak was 4-5 with 3 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The win went to Stuart Perry in relief, making him now 1-1. Ray Clemens took the loss for Walnut Creek. Charlie Doane sewed up the save, his 3rd.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Bryan Bircher came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Walnut Creek pitcher Ray Clemens, he hit a full count cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cabo San Lucas on top, 8-7.

"We'll put this win in the can," said Bircher, "and go after the next one."

Cabo San Lucas is now 11-23, Walnut Creek 25-8.
