Wolverines Bag 4-1 Win
|
Pitcher Ramon Franco was rock solid in helping the Wichita Wolverines beat the Niagara Falls Pipe Fitters, 4-1. Franco yielded 1 run over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 5-3. The Wolverines sport a record of 16-25.
The Wolverines got a big at-bat from right fielder Mike Hess. For the game, Hess was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Wichita a 4-1 lead.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Wichita skipper Abel Keller.
