Black Bears Turn Back Riverside, 5-3
|
Fraser Valley Black Bears starter Brian Campbell pitched a strong game against the Riverside Red Bulls at The Stetson Bowl, leading the Black Bears to a 5-3 win. Campbell got the win, improving to 4-1. He allowed 2 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. Campbell allowed 1 earned run. The 4th-place Black Bears are now 25-23, the Red Bulls 23-26.
Brad Fenske had a big run-scoring double for the Black Bears in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Fraser Valley leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Willie Chaparro and stroked the double to center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Black Bears ahead, 3-1.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Fenske told the Fraser Valley Daily News.
