Park Helps Black Bears Defeat Beetlecats, 10-5
The Fraser Valley Black Bears defeated the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats, 10-5. Left Fielder Dave Park deserved a large share of the credit. Park hit 2 home runs for the Black Bears. Picking up the win was Erik Dubiel. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 10 hits. The right--hander struck out 2 and walked 4. Armando Gimenez, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 14th save.

The Beetlecats had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Black Bears going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old right fielder Ramon Villanueva came to the plate. Villanueva hit a 2-run double on a 1-2 circle change from Buzzard's Bay hurler Daniel Castro. It was Villanueva's 7th double of the year.

"We were able to put some good swings on some pitches," Park told the Fraser Valley Bulletin.

Fraser Valley is now 20-20, Buzzard's Bay 22-17.
