Kelowna Upended by Evanston, 8-4
|
The Evanston Bishops beat the Kelowna Rockets, 8-4. Evanston pitcher and Funabashi, Japan, native Hayaki Takeda led the way. Evanston, at 20-19, sits in third place in the TML AA Jim Leyland Division.
Andrew King had a big 2-run double for the Bishops in the bottom of the second inning. With Evanston leading 3-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a splitter from Jack Collis, who leads the RAA in complete games with 4, and swatted a double to right. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bishops ahead, 5-0.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Harold Planter said.
