Beehive Get Clonked by Whitecaps, 7-2
|
Starting pitcher John Spears fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Boston Whitecaps stymie the Madison Beehive, 7-2. Spears, who leads the TAA in complete games with 3, went the distance for Boston. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. The victory gives Boston a record of 20-16.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for John Day? The Boston center fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Whitecaps on top, 2-0. For the game, Day had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Boston skipper T.J. Hall.
