The Bloomington Blazers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Jared Simms into a win. Instead, the Asheville Moonshiners prevailed, 4-3. Simms threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The loss has the Blazers at 12-20.

The decisive blow was delivered by Jimmy Knauff in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 31-year old left-handed pitcher Mario Moreno to win the game for Asheville. The home crowd went nuts.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Knauff said in reaction to the win.
