Mavericks Rally Late to Clip Mexico City
In a tight contest at The Corral, the El Paso Mavericks edged the Mexico City Luchadores by the score of 7-6. El Paso third baseman Jeff Gifford, who blasted 2 home runs, was a key contributor. With the loss, Mexico City sinks to 2-2.

The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With El Paso trailing 6-5, Gifford jumped on a fastball from four-time All-Star Willie Roman and hit a 2-run home run to right-center. With one swing, the Mavericks had a walk-off win.

"You can't hate how you win if you win," said El Paso skipper Lorenzo Castillo.
