Getting offensive support from Matt Weld, the Fraser Valley Black Bears topped the Rock River Rats, 7-6. Weld went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Black Bears. Fraser Valley pitcher Erik Dubiel earned the win, hiking his record to 3-2. Neal Hancock suffered the loss. Armando Gimenez earned the save, his 13th.

Weld had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 0-1 fastball from Chuck Green, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Black Bears a 6-4 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Weld.

"What we get, we earn," Weld told the Fraser Valley Bulletin.

The Black Bears bumped their record to 17-17 with this latest triumph.
