Beetlecats Turn Back Pacifica, 5-3
|
Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats starter Willie Laguna was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Pacifica Shamrocks, 5-3. Laguna, the winner, moves to 4-1. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 4 walks. Bobby Mitchell earned the save for Buzzard's Bay, his 7th of the year.
Rico Zamora had a big run-scoring single for the Beetlecats in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Buzzard's Bay leading 4-3 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from Juan Luna and stroked the single to right. It was his 39th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Beetlecats ahead, 5-3.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Zamora.
The Beetlecats now own a record of 21-18.
