Whitecaps Come Back Late to Top Hackers, 3-2
|
Boston Whitecaps starter Victor Cortez was in the groove. He led his team to a win over the Silicon Valley Hackers, 3-2. The save was credited to Chris Sarne, his 6th. The loss makes Silicon Valley 28-11.
Had Earl Chapman not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Chapman hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Whitecaps.
"The Whitecaps earned it," said Silicon Valley manager Brad Jones. "Hats off to them."
