Wolverines Come Up Short at Spokane, 8-7
|
The Kennel was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Spokane Bulldogs and Wichita Wolverines.
Led by Heriberto Tamayo, the Spokane Bulldogs defeated the Wichita Wolverines, 8-7. Tamayo was 2 for 2 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Bulldogs. Mario Correa, the winner, goes to 3-3. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, with 5 walks and 5 strikeouts over 8 innings. Johnny Parke collected save number 2.
With Spokane leading 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Tamayo hit a cutter from Fernando Alvarado for a 2-run double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Bulldogs ahead, 5-2.
"We found a way to get it done," Tamayo said.
The 5th-place Wolverines dropped to 15-22.
