Dowers 4-5, Chargers Move to 29-7
|
The Terra Linda Chargers knocked off the Sandy Springs Spartans, 8-5, at The Coliseum. Chris Dowers, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Terra Linda won. The designated hitter was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Marcos Alcazar got the win, improving to 2-2. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 11 hits and 1 run, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Earning his 6th save of the year was Kevin Lewis.
With Terra Linda leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Dowers hit a slider from Matt Taylor for a solo home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Chargers ahead, 2-0.
"We maximized our offense today," said Terra Linda skipper Felipe Clavijo. "That makes everyone's life easier."
Terra Linda is now 29-7, 7½ games up in the TMLAA Bruce Bochy Division.
