Bishops Topple Spartans with Late Rally
The Evanston Bishops had to overcome a fine effort from Sandy Springs pitcher Cesar Magana to win, 8-6, at The Coliseum. Magana went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Calvin Hayward, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. Evanston now owns a record of 19-18.

Evanston used the timely hitting of Bruce Morey to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bishops on top, 8-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Morey told the Evanston Daily.
