Beetlecats Earn 8-6 Win Against Whitecaps
|
Boston center fielder Tristan People was sensational. He went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Buzzard's Bay beat the Whitecaps, 8-6, in 13 innings. The third-place Beetlecats now have a win-loss record of 21-16.
Buzzard's Bay used the timely hitting of Carlos Encarnacion to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Beetlecats on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Encarnacion, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
