Warriors Sneak Past Millers, 3-2
|
Milwaukee wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Tim Northup, falling to the Walnut Creek Warriors, 3-2. Northup threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Russ Gilleo got the save, the 9th for him this season. At 26-9, Walnut Creek is in first place in the Thurman Munson League West Division.
Walnut Creek needed the clutch hitting of Kevin McArdle to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Warriors on top, 3-2. For the game, McArdle had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Walnut Creek manager Armando Medina said.
