Cornhuskers Take Nail-Biter Over Pipe Fitters
The DeKalb Cornhuskers had to overcome a fine effort from Niagara Falls pitcher Mario Lopez to win, 2-1, in 17 innings at The Corn Crib. Lopez went 8.1 innings and allowed 1 run. DeKalb pitcher Chris Schurman got the win. He's now 2-0. Manny Carrera was tagged with the loss. DeKalb now has a record of 20-12.

The Cornhuskers got a clutch hit from right fielder Evan Wilkins. In the bottom of the 17th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Cornhuskers.

"This is a resilient bunch," said DeKalb manager Trey Burrell.
