Shamrocks Upend Drillers, 10-3
|
Pacifica second baseman Pat Andrews contributed significantly to his team's 10-3 win over the Beaumont Drillers. Andrews, who is tied for 9th in the RAA with a .443 on-base percentage, went 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Shamrocks. The win was credited to 26-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Gillespie in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Jamie Charles took the loss. With the loss, Beaumont sinks to 15-12.
With Pacifica leading 3-2 in the top of the eighth, Andrews hit a fastball from Alex Meza for a 2-run double. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Shamrocks ahead, 5-2.
Andrews called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
