Hawks Roll to 9-2 Win Over Storm Troopers
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Marty Tack, the Boise Hawks defeated the San Antonio Storm Troopers, 9-2. Tack went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Hawks. Rick Keen went 7 innings for Boise to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with no earned runs. He scattered 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record improves to 3-2. With the win, Boise improves its record to 17-14.
One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the fifth inning. Facing San Antonio hurler Jose Soto, Ed Vega, who is tied for 6th in the RAA in extra base hits with 14, drew a walk. The Hawks went on to win.
"We were firing on all cylinders today," said Hawks manager Tom Becker.
