Drillers Edge Pacifica in Pitching Duel
Beaumont Drillers starter Mike Downey turned in a top-notch performance against the Pacifica Shamrocks at Drillers Stadium. The result was a win for the Drillers, 1-0. Downey, now 3-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing no runs. The win gives Beaumont a record of 15-11.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Drillers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when first baseman Adam Buxton hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Matt Walker and made the score 1-0, Drillers. Buxton was 1-4.

"We did just enough to win," Buxton said.
