Bison Stumble, Lose to Stogies
|
Havana pitcher Bryan Stanford had a large part in his team subduing the Bighorn Bison, 9-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Stanford, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 2 walks. Angelo Perez earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.
Allen Larson had a big 2-run double for the Stogies in the top of the fifth inning. With Havana leading 2-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a screwball from Carlos Adujar, who led the TML in innings pitched with 255.2 in 2056, and swatted a double to center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Stogies ahead, 4-1.
"It's so much easier when you throw good pitches," said Stanford.
The Stogies raised their record to 3-1.
