Carson City Stymied by Spokane, 2-1
|
The Bulldogs faced a stiff challenge from Carson City pitcher Josh Blum, but persevered to claim a win at The Kennel. The final score was 2-1. Blum went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Jop Hokke, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held Carson City to 1 run on 4 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. Ken Pratt closed out the game, earning his 1st save.
Spokane second baseman Luis Duenas contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a cutter to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 7th hit of the season and put the Bulldogs ahead, 2-0.
"The old adage is true," said Duenas. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
Spokane has a record of 8-13.
