Cornhuskers Beat Bulldogs, 10-7
|
Not everyone stuck through the 51-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.
The DeKalb Cornhuskers spoiled a good performance by Spokane designated hitter Cruz Martinez, bumping off Spokane, 10-7, at The Corn Crib. Martinez went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. The win takes DeKalb to 9-12.
Walt Coffin came through for DeKalb with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. The designated hitter went 2 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and collected 4 RBI.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Cornhuskers manager Kinnojo Hara. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
