The Evanston Bishops got a stellar effort from pitcher Willis Paulino, helping Evanston score a win over the visiting Fraser Valley Black Bears, 10-1. Paulino, the winner, moves to 4-1. He threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 10 and giving up 4 walks. Calvin Hayward finished to wrap up his 3rd save.

Bruce Morey drew 1 walk, while scoring 2 runs for Evanston. The slick-fielding third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off German Pineda. It was his 8th RBI of the season.

"Willis's as tough as he is talented," said Evanston manager Harold Planter.
