Spokane Listless in 9-1 Loss
DeKalb starter Jon Luciano kept the Spokane hitters in check, helping his team cruise to a win, 9-1. The winning pitcher was Luciano, now 2-2. He tossed 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. No one expected much of this team, but the hot start by DeKalb might have some re-evaluating their pre-season predictions. This latest win lifts their record to 14-8.

Sergio Ramirez had a big 2-run home run for the Cornhuskers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With DeKalb leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a cutter from Mario Correa and swatted a home run to right. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cornhuskers ahead, 4-1.

"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Spokane skipper . "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
