McIntyre Steals Spotlight, But Last Laugh Belongs to Marysville
The Marysville Monarchs weathered a fine game by Black Mountain right fielder Pete McIntyre to upend the Mountaineers, 6-5, at Mitts Fieldhouse. McIntyre went 2 for 2 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Corey Gordon picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Nick Bivins suffered the loss. Craig Arbeiter closed the door for Marysville, picking up his 1st save of the year.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder John Gold came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Black Mountain pitcher Nick Bivins, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Marysville on top, 6-5.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Gold.

The Monarchs have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 5th win in 15 games.
