Spartans Top Bulldogs to Even Record
|
Sandy Springs beat Spokane at The Coliseum, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to right fielder Cameron Sweeny, who earned player of the game honors. Reliever John Wagner picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Ivan Pimentel took the loss. Justin Gray picked up the save, his 4th.
Sandy Springs first baseman Jessie Rei had a key at-bat for the Spartans in the bottom of the fourth inning. Facing left-hander Ivan Pimentel, Rei hit a bases-clearing triple. It put Sandy Springs in front, 5-2. For the day, Rei went 1-3 with a triple and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Rei told the Sandy Springs Gazette.
The win gives Sandy Springs a record of 7-7.
