The first-place Cape Verde Vesuvius took on the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats at Conduit Caverns.
Cape Verde starter Robby Pacheco pitched effectively against the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats at Conduit Caverns. The right-hander led his team to a 4-3 win. The winning pitcher was Pacheco, now 3-0. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when left fielder Sekien Honda, who is tied for 5th in the RAA in hits with 17, drew a walk. The Vesuvius went on to win.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Honda told the Cape Verde Daily.
Cape Verde, now 12-2, is setting the league on fire so far.
