The Sandy Springs Spartans picked up a win at The Stetson Bowl, knocking off the Fraser Valley Black Bears, 10-8. Starting pitcher Teguh Sukarno, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Sandy Springs reliever Justin Gray picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Ron Mabie was saddled with the loss. The win takes Sandy Springs to 6-5.
Sandy Springs took a 5-4 lead on Tobias Garcia's 9th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Garcia hit in the top of the 12th, left Fraser Valley pitcher Luis Sida shaking his head.
In postgame remarks, Sukarno simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
