Jay Gross was superb against Evanston. The left-hander had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Pipe Fitters victory. The score was 10-2. With the loss, Evanston drops to 5-3.

Niagara Falls used a well-timed hit by Steve Venetz to capture the win. The first baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Pipe Fitters ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Good pitching and timely hitting is a recipe for success," said Venetz.
