Butterflies Best Gremlins in Pitching Duel
|
In a well-pitched game between the Pennsylvania Butterflies and the Houghton Gremlins, pitcher Juan Cervantes was fantastic. The Pennsylvania right-hander helped his team secure the win, 2-0. In 5.1 innings, Cervantes surrendered 1 hit, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Houghton is 15-13 after the defeat.
Angus Bonscott had a big solo home run for the Butterflies in the bottom of the third inning. With Pennsylvania leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Jeromir Hamrlik, who finished 3rd in the RCL in wins with 17 in 2057, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Butterflies on top, 2-0.
"The old adage is true," said Bonscott. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
