The skies opened up and the rain fell at The Corn Crib.

The DeKalb Cornhuskers bested the Rock River Rats by a score of 6-4, with catcher Marshall Blumberg getting the main credit. On the day, Blumberg went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Cornhuskers. John Kibler was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Neal Hancock.

Blumberg had a game-changing double in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-2 fastball from Neal Hancock, he banged a 2-run double to right, giving the Cornhuskers a 6-4 lead. It was the 2nd double of the year for Blumberg.

DeKalb manager Trey Burrell called it "a good, solid win."
