The Sandy Springs Spartans picked up a win at The Stetson Bowl, taking down the Fraser Valley Black Bears, 10-3. Starting pitcher Gomez Roches was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Roches, now 1-0. He tossed 9 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. Fraser Valley is 0-2 after the loss.

Jesse Mangini had a big run-scoring triple for the Spartans in the top of the fourth inning. With Sandy Springs leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a slider from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Phil Korth and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Spartans ahead, 2-0.

"Every manager loves to see an offensive outburst from his team," said Sandy Springs skipper Rafael Alonso.
