The Kelowna Rockets faced a tough opponent in Louisiana pitcher Mike Ratto, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum by a final score of 6-5. Ratto went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Kelowna reliever Cody Paskert picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jason Mulford was saddled with the loss. The win puts Kelowna at 1-1.

Kelowna got a clutch hit from Travis Maul. The pinch hitter launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Maul told the Kelowna Daily News. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
