Helmlinger goes 4-for-4 to Light Black Bears Fuse
The Fraser Valley Black Bears put the giddy home crowd in an even more jubilant mood after beating the Spokane Bulldogs in the season opener at The Stetson Bowl. Center Fielder Bobby Helmlinger won plaudits for Fraser Valley. He went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Fraser Valley pitcher Marco Borunda got the win. He's now 1-0. Leo Diaz was tagged with the loss.

With Fraser Valley leading 2-0 in the bottom of the first, Helmlinger hit a fastball from Leo Diaz for a 2-run double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Black Bears ahead, 4-0.

"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Helmlinger told the Fraser Valley Chronicle.
