The inspired effort of Cabo San Lucas center fielder Bryan Bircher was not enough to prevent a loss, 7-5, to the Milwaukee Millers. Bircher was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Steve Herring collected save number 8. The setback makes the Toreros 11-17.

Sergio Gonzalez came through with a big-time hit for Milwaukee. The second baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Gonzalez.
