Armadillos Win, 5-4, Versus Joplin
|
The Amarillo Armadillos beat the Joplin Fireballs, 5-4, in part because of third baseman Osvaldo Pimentel. He went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times. Amarillo reliever Victor Delgado picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Cole Belgrade absorbed the loss. After today's action, Amarillo sits at 67-93, while Joplin falls to 65-95.
Amarillo used the timely hitting of Travis MacDonald to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Armadillos on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Said Amarillo manager Tyler Bulman: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
