The Thunder Bay Black Bears defeated the Bowling Green Racers, 5-2, in RCL AAA action at Edgbaston, with Thunder Bay first baseman David Callon named player of the game. Brett Johnson, the winner, improved to 8-11. He held Bowling Green to 1 earned run on 6 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. The 5th-place Black Bears lifted their record to 64-96.

Tied up with the Racers in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Black Bears got a boost from second baseman Pete Farthing. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Farthing saw a 1-0 knuckleball from Chris Sanchez and hit a run-scoring double to break the stalemate and put Thunder Bay on top, 1-0.
