Firebirds Stymie Billings, Take 2-1 Win
|
The Albany Firebirds knocked off the Billings Mustangs, 2-1, in TML AAA action at Cobb Field. Albany pitcher and Escondido, California, native Harry Marella had an outstanding performance. Marella got the win, improving to 4-2. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. He allowed 1 run. Picking up the save was Israel Sanchez. He's now 13 for 16 in save chances.
The Firebirds got a big at-bat from center fielder Mike Adams. For the game, Adams was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Albany a 2-0 lead.
"It was a hard game, a hard night," said Billings skipper Brad Lyons.
The win gives Albany a season record of 72-64.
